Last Wednesday marked the Grand re-opening of the Jenkintown Farmer’s Market. Even though it was raining, the “little” and I weren’t going to miss it! Last year she got to help cut the ribbon to commemorate the big day!
Every Wednesday for the season, between 11:30 and 4pm, you will find a fine selection of local cheeses, eggs, raw milk, veggies, meats, nut butters, (raw) honey, plants, bakery items, artisan work and more. Last week our finds included some yummy Butterscotch Peanut Butter and Apricot Jam and even a unique, cute bracelet for the “little” made by a local author who uses word beads in her jewelry. The lunch truck is the best…burgers made with free-range meats and other great selections! The market takes place in the town square, on Leedom St. and Greenwood Ave. right behind the West Ave. Grill. If you are in the area, you need to stop by and check it out.
So make it a day tomorrow…stop by the Famer’s Market, visit the Toy Store, have a cupcake at Velvet Sky right next door, or take a stroll through Jenkintown and visit several other local businesses. If Wednesdays don’t work for you or you are not close enough to make it, there is bound to be some great finds in your community as well. Support small businesses and farms and shop local. For all of the USA, another great resource for finding local farms, CSAs, restaurants, etc., near you…or even shop on line for anything from herbs to pet food here: Local Harvest
